This hot mulled wine recipe is an easy, low carb holiday punch that you can put together quickly or simmer in a slow cooker. There’s 1 carb in each 3/4 cup sized serving so you can experience a Dickens Christmas without ending up looking like old Fezziwig himself.
For this recipe you’ll need: Merlot, apple cider rooibus tea, sugar free brown sugar cinnamon syrup, orange tangerine water enhancer drops, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom, gin
Jump to RecipeHot mulled wine is an iconic part of Christmas. Even if you’ve never cupped a warm glass in your hands and savored the sweet-spicy aroma that rose from the cup you probably think of the Holidays when you hear the words?mulled wine.?It’s a wonderful way to scent your house for a party!
The thing is that there’s tons of carbs in hot mulled wine. Sugar is usually added as well as fruit juice so the carb count jumps quite a lot. I’ve used a sugar free syrup to stand in for the sugar, a spiced rooibus tea for the fruit juice, and a little orange water enhancer to round out the flavor. Since I’m not simmering this in the slow cooker I used ground spices but you can certainly use your slow cooker. I’m just usually making it for myself and no one else so I don’t need 6 quarts sitting around. While brandy is often added to regular mulled wine we’re going to use a highly flavored gin. I like Citadelle for this.
That’s really it. It’s ready to be carried into the family room and sipped while you watch the Hallmark Channel. Guilt free!

I used Torani’s Sugar Free Brown Sugar Cinnamon syrup. I love the flavor it adds to all kinds of things. Teavana Apple Cider Rooibus tea has 0 carbs, 0 calories. It’s got a wonderful flavor that gives this low carb version of hot mulled wine the true flavors of Christmas.
