Can you celebrate Halloween on keto?
Don’t you hate going to restaurants? They have these long lists of mouthwatering cocktails but all of them are so high in sugar it would blow your carb allowance until next year. I usually end up with a vodka soda with lime but honestly, it gets pretty boring. This Halloween recipe is spooky because of the color, and so very tasty. Best of all, no pumpkin spice anywhere !
So, as you may have seen in my other low carb recipes, I tend to go all out when making a keto cocktail at home. With all of the sugar free Torani syrup flavors that are available, it’s easy for me to replicate my favorites. All of the flavor and none of the sugar and carbs.
Please remember that alcohol while it doesn’t have net carbs, it can stall your weight loss efforts if you indulge a bit too much. So if you are enjoying one of these keto recipes at a Halloween party, remember to watch how many keto cocktails you have.

How to make a Red Zombie keto
The Zombie cocktail was invented at the Don the Beachcomber restaurant in 1934 and became popular at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York. It’s easy to make with lots of fruit juice and rum. It’s a sweet, easy to drink cocktail that will turn you into a zombie if you drink more than one my favorite kind.
So, when I was trying to figure out how to replicate it in a sugar free version, I knew it would have to be sweet. I wanted it to be red because what’s Halloween without a red Halloween cocktail ?
Big Red to the rescue. More accurately Big Red Zero to the rescue!
Big Red, like Dr Pepper, is a Texas soda or soft drink It’s similar to cream soda but has some citrus oils in it that give it a slightly different taste. If you can’t find it where you live, any sugar free red cream soda will do. Or keep cooking and order it from Amazon. Links are below for you.
I used pineapple and Free Mango to give it the fruit flavor of the classic Zombie . I then add Free Brown for a little extra sweetness. The real secret is plain old hot sauce. It gives it a spicy kick that brings out the flavor in the .
I use aromatic bitters as well as rhubarb bitters. The rhubarb is just a little bitter and helps to balance out all of the sweet in the cocktail but if you can’t find it, just add a squeeze of lime. You can make this even more fun by adding a little dry ice to make it smoky and foggy. Warning ! Please read all the directions on how to handle and use dry ice. Please be sure to fish out all the dry ice with gloves and tongs. Or you can let it dissolve before drinking. It will burn you if you aren’t careful in handling dry ice. It is spooky fun though !

If your local supermarket doesn’t carry Big Red Free, the free version of Big Red you can order here places like Amazon.
Bloody Zombie
This Zombie keto cocktail has just 1 net carb of boozy goodness. When Halloween is over, you can put it in a fancy Christmas glass and call it Elf Juice or Santa’s Secret Sauce. It’s so good that you can keep drinking them until New Years.
