Creamy, sweet shots are a nice finish to the day as far as I am concerned. I am not a big fan of straight whiskey but when it’s mixed with something creamy and sweet it becomes something totally different. Since it’s just a small amount there aren’t many calories or carbs and as far as I am concerned these low-carb whiskey shooters are the perfect dessert. Creamy, sweet, and chocolaty perfection in liquid form.
You’ll need to make some homemade low-carb Irish Cream to make this. That doesn’t take very long and it’s nice to have on hand to add to your coffee once in awhile.
Once you are past induction, if you’re doing Atkins, it’s perfectly acceptable for most people to indulge in a drink once in awhile. I think these would be amazing served with a few fresh Strawberries as a dessert course.
Here’s the thing. Regular Irish Cream really doesn’t have that many carbs and you are honestly only saving maybe 10 calories and half a gram of carbs by using the homemade. If you are anything like me, though, the little bit of sugar in the regular Irish Cream is going to set off your cravings like gangbusters and you’ll find yourself on the kitchen floor at midnight surrounded by empty Twinkie wrappers and an ice cream carton with one spoonful of Chocolate Moose Tracks left in it. The low-carb version uses Xylitol (or erythritol) and will keep those cravings at bay.
It’s your call.
